Atlantic City Electric posted a notice to the entrance of Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing this week notifying the owners that electric service will be disconnected April 7 unless overdue bills are paid, according to NJ Advance Media and The Press of Atlantic City. Frank Tedesco, a spokesman for Atlantic City Electric, said the company has tried to work with the mall owners and "we make every attempt to keep our customers connected," according to NJ Advance Media. The publication noted that Hamilton Mall was already under financial distress amid the coronavirus pandemic, and the shopping center has lost three anchor stores over the last several years.
