Market Shrugs As COVID Relief Bill Deadline Passes; Pelosi Still "Hopeful" Tyler Durden Tue, 10/20/2020 - 16:58 Well that was a big let down... So much for that deadline! US equity markets erased today's gains and are shrugging around yesterday's lows after the 3pmET call between Pelosi and Mnuchin finished with 'no deal'. Pelosi came out and said she was "hopeful" for a deal this week - as she has now said numerous times in the last few weeks. WH Chief of Staff Meadows appeared on CNBC and blamed the impasse on Pelosi's unwillingness to move from her $2.2-2.4 trillion deal, claiming that if this bill went to the floor it was pass with bipartisan support and indicating that "the biggest hurdle remains Speaker Pelosi." Meadows was also "hopeful" a deal will get done but admitted that "we still have a ways to go", and confirmed that Pelosi and Mnuchin will speak again tomorrow. Remember, hope is not a strategy!
