Alibaba will split shares 8:1. For every share at $160 you get 8 for $20. The wording from Reuters is a little odd but CNBC just confirmed it’s a stock split. For every 1 share you would have 8 shares after the split if approved by shareholders at Annual Meeting in July 2019. Splits (either way) do not change your ownership. Whether it’s a good thing or bad thing is yet to be seen. Most companies only split their stock when they are bullish on the company prospects. 8:1 is a bit excessive but Alibaba wants every Chinese person to own shares and they can’t afford (average person) the current price. I look at this as an opportunity to buy more shares and continue to sell covered calls. I vote “Yes”. $BABA, Alibaba Group Holding Limited / H1 More liquidityMore investors in Asia may afford $BABA stock, increasing liquidity and float. Expect the stock to rise from here.Buy Alibaba.
