Top 10 Net Payout Yields For September 2016


The top 10 net payout yields had a sizable gain that easily beat the return of the benchmark in August.

The top 10 net payout yield stocks average yields of 18.1% to start September.

American Airlines maintained the lead with the highest yield to start September at 33.1%.

This article is a continuation of a monthly series, highlighting the top net payout yield (NPY) stocks, that was started back in June 2012 (see article) and explained in August 2012 (see article). The series highlights the best stocks for the upcoming month utilized in part to make investment decisions for the Covestor model that is now beating the S&P 500 for five out of the last six years. August Returns

Below are two charts highlighting the monthly returns of the top ten stocks from August (see list here). For presentation reasons, the chart is broken into the Top 5 and Next 5 lists.

The Top 5 stocks had another exceptionally good month in August when the S&P 500 index was virtually flat. The stocks beaten down earlier this year had a continuation of the snapback rally during September. Motorola Solutions (NYSE:MSI) and AIG (NYSE:AIG) rallied over 10% each for the month. Even Macy's (NYSE:M), American Airlines Group (NASDAQ:AAL) and United Airlines (NYSE:UAL) easily beat the results of the S&P 500. In total, the Top 5 stocks gained an average of 6.4% in comparison to the solid 0.0% result of the S&P 500.
