The next round of restaurant stocks is up for earnings, and what a difference a few weeks makes. Concerns are building over the companies in the sector thanks to the resurgence of the McDonald’s (MCD) behemoth, as well as heavy discounting across the industry. These trends are going to put the pressure on a few companies reporting in the next several days including Shake Shack (SHAK), Fogo de Chao (FOGO), and Jack In The Box (JACK). Let’s take a quick look at these three below, though make sure to watch the video for extra information on this trio of restaurant stocks. FOGO is the first to report from the group and this stock has been under pressure since its IPO. While shares have hopefully bottomed, the stock does possess a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell), so that isn’t a good metric going into the report. Up next is JACK which needs a good report to break its streak of two straight misses, and to help reverse the negative trend that the stock has been exhibiting for much of the last twelve months. But as we look to the recent estimates for the stock, things don’t appear promising thanks to a negative Earnings ESP and the sluggish track record. And finally, SHAK rounds out the trio and we take a look at this company’s recent price performance, as well as its trend in terms of earnings. We see a pretty interesting divergence between the price and the recent activity, so we could be approaching a big move in shares here. Make sure to watch our short video for a more in-depth discussion of these companies, and which are looking the most (and least) promising this earnings season! Want more insights from Zacks?
