General Motors showed 13% growth in total U.S. auto sales during May, which far surpassed expectations especially due to all the recent recalls. Apparently this is their best sales figure since 2008. GM reported 284,694 vehicle sales in May, increased from 252,894 the previous year. Retail sales went up 9.7% and fleet sales 21%. The company's Chevrolet brand showed a 14% sales growth thanks to car sales, especially the compact Cruze model. Apart from that, Buick, Cadillac and GMC also did very well.
