Value Investors often get typecast by the broader investing community as being biased towards certain specific sectors of the market due to the fact that some types of businesses are perceived as being more straightforward to analyze than others. It is often much easier to produce a rough estimate of the value of a company that makes auto parts, a shipping company or an insurance company rather than gauging the expected utility of a handful of technology patents or the potential applications of a recently developed portfolio of molecules. Despite the fact that there are often some industries which an investor would consider to be "easier" for analysis, there is value in a broad swath of the marketplace as long as the price paid for shares is low enough to guarantee an attractive rate of return.
