The long awaited merger between American Airlines and US Airways has now been updated. Both companies have agreed to extend the date at which they are still able to end their merger agreement. This is all because of the upcoming trial against the Department of Justice. As of now, the two have until mid December of this month to opt out of the deal. With this extension, they will get until the middle of January next year to do so. The only exception is if the court proceeds with an order before then, then they will instead have 15 days after that date. In the case that the judge rule against the merger, AMR Corp and US Airways can end the merger agreement five days after such court order goes through.
