The Monsanto (MON) company is bringing a new type of GMO corn to a farm near you soon. The company received approval from the USDA to sell a product called 87411 Maize, which is the first in a new line of products that are designed to use a technology that Monsanto calls "SmartStax PRO", which allows the company to "stack" new traits into the product in the future. This new product launch is part of the reason the company has been trying to acquire Syngenta (SYT), as they have also developed a GMO corn, "MZHG0JG", which is resistant to both glyphosate and glufosinate. Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Monsanto's "RoundUp" herbicide, the top selling product in it's market. Monsanto closed up 8 cents at $91.36 on Friday. Syngenta closed down 10 cents to $69.20 .
