AT&T Customers Will Soon Choose Between Overage Fees Or Slower Speeds When They Exceed Data Limits

AT&T Customers Will Soon Choose Between Overage Fees Or Slower Speeds When They Exceed Data Limits - AT&T Inc. NYSE:T, TMUS

Competition within the telecommunication sector is heating up as AT&T Inc. T 0.73% introduced a new data plan that eliminates overage fees.

AT&T said in a statement that its new "Mobile Share Advantage" plan eliminates data overage charges for its customers. Customers who select the plan will no longer pay overage charges, but all data used after their limit will be capped at a maximum of 128 kbps for the rest of the billing cycle.

New plans start at 1GB and go all the way up to 200 GB.

AT&T also revised its 25GB and higher plans. The 25GB plan for four smartphone lines now costs $190, down from $235, and the 30 GB plan will now cost $215 per month for four smartphone lines as opposed to a prior $285.

"With the new Mobile Share Advantage and Mobile Share Advantage for Business plans, we're simplifying the access charge for smartphone and basic/feature phone lines," the company said.
