I’ve written before about how much I dislike Monsanto (NYSE: MON,) so the recent news about their job cuts is bittersweet. While it means that one of the most evil companies on earth might be finally getting some comeuppance, it also means that some good people will lose their jobs. That sucks. I’d love, just once for something like this to happen and the CEO to step up and say that he is taking a pay cut so that they don’t have to cut any jobs. I mean, their CEO, Hugh Grant, has made over 140 million dollar the last five years in compensation alone! Any decent human being would share some of that wealth with his hard working employees. As much as I hate to admit it, cutting 2400 jobs is probably going to help Monsanto in the long run. Their stock has plummeted 26% this year, so they had to try something, and it seems like there’s nowhere to go but up. They are still a massively successful company overall, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them rebound after this restructuring.
