These Stocks Just Surpassed 52-Week Highs as Dow Rally Looks Unstoppable

Robust earnings results from some of the top components in the Dow Jones Industrial Average have powered the index forward, placing it on track to eclipse a new record high.

The Dow was jumping 0.85% to 23,470.60 during afternoon trading on Tuesday, after the average snapped a five-day streak of all-time closing highs on Monday, Oct. 23.

The S&P 500 was higher 0.2%, and the Nasdaq was climbing 0.25%. Both were just short of their closing records.

Several stocks have surpassed their 52-week highs in conjunction with Tuesday's market rally.

Among those eclipsing the mark, powered by strong earnings releases published on Tuesday, are Alcoa (AA) , Caterpillar (CAT - Get Report) , 3M (MMM - Get Report) , Honeywell (HON - Get Report) , Stanley Black & Decker (SWK - Get Report) and General Motors (GM - Get Report) .

Another company climbing to a new 52-week high is American Express (AXP - Get Report) , which is higher after the credit card giant filed to patent a Blockchain-based personalized customer rewards system, a technology used in digital currencies.

Bank of America (BAC - Get Report) surpassed its 52-week high on Tuesday after the bank upgraded its security, integrating fingerprint-based two-factor authentication into its online banking setup. The moves come in the aftermath of the devastating Equifax (EFX - Get Report) data breach, which compromised the information of over 140 million Americans.
