BlackBerry is acquiring a German company, Secusmart GmbH, that specializes in voice and data encryption, in an effort to polish its credentials with highly security conscious clients such as government agencies. Secusmart specializes in encryption and anti eavesdropping services for governments, companies, and telecommunications service providers. The deal is the latest by BlackBerry, as it tries to reinvent itself under new CEO John Chen and gain more market share from Apple and Samsung, who own the smartphone market. CCS Insight analyst Geoff Blaber, said "It is really reassuring sign that BlackBerry is now less focused on firefighting and more focused on identifying and building for the long term into enterprise services."
