NEW YORK () -- Shares of MetLife () were falling 9.06% to $39.38 in late-morning trading on Thursday after the life insurance company earnings that came in below analysts' expectations for the 2016 second quarter.
After yesterday's market close, the New York-based company said it had operating earnings of 83 cents per share. Analysts were looking for earnings of $1.35 per share.
During the same quarter last year, MetLife earned $1.56 per share.
