Samsung Executive Vice President Rhee In-jong was quoted as saying that the Galaxy S8 will feature artificial intelligence capabilities that are "significantly differentiated" from what is found on other devices, such as Apple Inc.
Samsung, fresh off its acquisition of the artificial-intelligence software company Viv Labs, will offer consumers access to useful information ranging from weather to flight information based on the user's individual activity.
Samsung needs to present a winner not only to preserve its reputation, but recoup the upwards of $6 billion in costs and lost profit from the Note 7 debacle.
The S8 will now become Samsung's de facto showcase phone.
