InvenSense: Virtual Reality Play

InvenSense (INVN) is up nearly 6% today heading into crucial customer Apple's (AAPL) earnings report. A bad earnings report from roughly 40% customer Apple could quickly erase the rally, but the stock is likely up today due to technical reasons and the news from the HTC Vive teardown.

On the technical side, InvenSense is breaking out from a tight range right above $8. Sure looks like a run to $10 happens next.

The real moving news is like the iFixit teardown of the HTC virtual reality headset. The promise with InvenSense remains the shift away from a reliance on Apple to wearables, IoT, drones, and virtual reality. In this regards, the teardown shows the following products in the Vive:

  • MPU-6500 6-axis Gyroscope and Accelerometer Combo (rear off the motherboard)
  • MPU-6500 6-axis Gyroscope and Accelerometer Combo (between the controller and the headset)

Buy InvenSense on any dips caused by a negative earnings report from Apple.
