“(Test drivers) give our engineers feedback about how our cars are driving and interacting with others on the road, and can take control of the vehicle if needed,” Brian Torcellini, head of operations for Google’s Self-Driving Car testing program, told The Arizona Republic. The catch is you have to live in Arizona. I’m not a big fan of self-driving cars but it’s not like they are intentionally crashing them into walls at 80 mph. I imagine they are taking all the liability and safety precautions to not have an embarrassment and just want a consumer point of view.
