International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. on Monday reported higher sales and margins for the first three months of the year even as profit fell on higher acquisition costs. For the year, International Flavors said it remains cautious about its performance, citing marking volatility. IFF, which traces its roots to 1833, makes flavors and fragrances found in an array of products, including cosmetics, shower gels, detergents, yogurts and ice cream. While based in New York City, most of its business is done abroad. Shares jumped 5% on today's trading.
