April 27 Premarket Briefing: 10 Things You Should Know

Here are 10 things you should know for Wednesday, April 27:

1. -- U.S. stock futures were pointing lower Wednesday after Apple (AAPL) said quarterly revenue fell for the first time in more than a decade.

European stocks drifted lower as positive corporate news failed to offset nervousness ahead of the Federal Reserve's rates decision during the afternoon.

Asian shares finished the session to the downside. The Shanghai Composite index fell 0.4%.

Oil prices in the U.S. rose 2.1% to $44.95 a barrel.

2. -- The economic calendar in the U.S. Wednesday includes Pending Home Sales for March at 10 a.m. EDT, and an announcement on interest rates from the Federal Open Market Committee at 2 p.m.

3. -- U.S. stocks on Tuesday ended mixed as the energy sector had a great day while health care wasn't so lucky.

The S&P 500 rose 0.19%, the Nasdaq slid 0.15%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended little changed.

4. -- NBC Universal owner Comcast (CMCSA - Get Report) is reportedly in talks to pay more than $3 billion for movie producer DreamWorks Animation (DWA) .

The Wall Street Journal reported on the talks, citing people familiar with the situation, though it noted discussions may not lead to an agreement.

A union would combine Comcast's Universal Studios, the company behind the Despicable Me franchise, with the producer of hit animated feature films including Kung Fu Panda and Shrek, giving the Philadelphia parent greater firepower to take on Walt Disney (DIS) .

The talk come after DreamWorks in February reported a $54 million loss for 2015. The company last year took a rash of measures to improve liquidity, including the $185 million sale-leaseback of its Glendale, Calif. campus.

Comcast reports first-quarter earnings later Wednesday.
