Facebook (FB) Stock Advances, Takes on YouTube, Tests New Video Features

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Facebook (FB - Get Report) shares are up 0.19% to $94.43 on Tuesday after the social networking company said that it is trying out new video features in an effort to facilitate users' experience.

Since about 4 billion videos are watched each day, Facebook wants to build a separate video section within the app where people can solely watch video, like they can on Alphabet (GOOGL)-owned YouTube.

Related to this feature, Facebook is also giving users the opportunity to "save" videos to watch later.

"We look forward to seeing how people use it to discover, watch and share videos with their friends," the company said in a blog post.

Another feature the Menlo Park, CA-based company is testing is "Suggested Videos," which allows users to view several videos in a row on the news feed.

Ad revenue generated from this feature will be divided between the publisher and the company, Facebook noted.
