Should You Consider Wells Fargo & Company?

Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) is the fourth largest bank in the United States by assets and has a market capitalization of $277 billion based on its current share price of $53.68. It is also one of the largest companies in the country. It has been in business since the mid 1800's and grew from a single operation funding I have done business with this bank for auto loans and other personal banking in the past and have traded the stock numerous times. However, the purpose of this article is to discuss this stock as a current investment. I have covered a number of regional banks of late, but many of the same approaches to assessing a regional bank are applicable to larger multinational banks. A bank of this size can only be crippled by extremely toxic assets (think back to the financial crisis). It could have went under without a taxpayer bailout. But now, things are back on track, and rather than trade it I think the data is strong enough to hold this 2.6% yielding bank which is toward the higher end of its 52 week range (figure 1) of $46.44 to $56.29. Read more
