Facebook expansion in mobile ads business is now a serious threat to Google, the dominant player in the field.
According to IDC, the mobile display advertising market in the U.S. expanded by 88% in 2012 to $4.5 billion, after posting a 125% growth in 2011 and projects a growth rate of 55% to 65% in 2013, as spending reaches roughly $7 billion in the U.S.
Despite the considerable slow growth in mobile search, Google has remained dominant in search advertising with a stake of two third of the market, but the serious threat is coming from Facebook, the new leader in dominating the mobile display advertising market.
