Last year, IBM announced a break-through partnership with Apple in which IBM would sell iPads to businesses that came pre-loaded with IBM apps. The deal struck between the two technology giants had positives for each company. Apple has long envisioned capturing a leadership position in the enterprise market. Business customers remain strongly tied to the PC, but Apple is hoping to undo that. Moreover, IBM gets the ability to sell Apple devices and offer ongoing support to its millions of clients across the globe. Recently, the partnership took another step forward. IBM released 10 apps the two companies are developing. IBM Chief Financial Officer Martin Schroeter said on the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call with analysts, “Through our Apple partnership, we released the first 10 MobileFirst for iOS solutions in the fourth quarter, with more to come by the end of this quarter focused in Healthcare, Energy and Utilities.”
