53% Of Whopperito Calories Come From The Tortilla

53% Of Whopperito Calories Come From The Tortilla - Restaurant Brands Int'l NYSE:QSR, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. NYSE:CMG

It's been more than two months since Burger King, a unit of Restaurant Brands International Inc QSR 0.11%, launched Whopperito in select areas. However, it will be available nationwide beginning today.

The Whopperito is priced at $2.99. The company plans to keep it a low-priced one, at least for three or four months to popularize the brand. This is considerably cheaper than similar food items. Chipotle Mexician Grill, Inc. CMG 0.04% sells burritos at approximately $9 in New York, while it's sold at $7 in some rural areas of the US.

The food item contains ingredients like onions, ketchup, lettuce, pickles, beef, tomatoes, cheese and mayonnaise. A key point of debate for those who are conscious about health, however, might be the tortilla.

A customer should be ready to take 53 percent more calories. If tortilla is checked on the fast-food's chain customized website menu, the calories suggested are 570. If tortilla isn't checked, it shows only 270 calories.

As the product starts to get nationwide attention, the reaction from the consumers could provide a catalyst. On Monday morning, the stock traded up by $0.16, or 0.34 percent, to $47.59.
