Tech Talk for Thursday November 24th 2016

Observations

History repeats. U.S. equity indices normally move higher on the day before and the day after U.S. Thanksgiving. Good start this season!

Natural gas and “gassy” stocks were a highlight on the upside yesterday. Traders are watching storage levels closely. Yesterday, a small, but slightly unexpected drawdown occurred. Historically, drawdowns start next week. Given winter weather conditions in the northern half of North America, look for a significant drawdown when the weekly report is released next week.

Note: The shaded area indicates the range between the historical minimum and maximum values for the weekly series from 2011 through 2015. The dashed vertical lines indicate current and year-ago weekly periods.

U.S. equity markets are closed to day and are open on Friday to 1:00 PM EST.
