Fantasy Football and Picking Stocks: Cramer's 'Mad Money' Recap (Tues 8/15/17)

Investing is a lot like fantasy football, Jim Cramer told his Mad Money viewers Tuesday. To pick a winning team, you need to stay diversified and make sure your roster is full of the best of the best. Every year around this time, Cramer picks his fantasy stock portfolio, and this year was no different.

In the position of wide receivers, Cramer chose Nvidia (NVDA) , an Action Alerts PLUS holding, along with Adobe (ADBE) and (CRM) . In the coveted quarterback slot was Apple (AAPL) , another Action Alerts name and a solid performer with a cheap multiple. Runners-up included Visa (V) and McDonalds (MCD) .

For running backs, Cramer went with DuPont (DD) and Clorox (CLX) ; while at tight end, he said, Pepsico (PEP) , JPMorgan Chase (JPM) , United Technologies (UTX) topped his list.

Defense contractors Lockheed Martin (LMT) , General Dynamics (GD) and Raytheon (RTN) made Cramer's draft for, you guessed it, his defensive line, while UnitedHealth Group (UNH) topped his list for kickers.

Who didn't make the cut? Cramer said his team doesn't include any retailers, with the exception of Amazon (AMZN) , nor any oil stocks, which have been unable to perform this season.

On Real Money, Cramer says a great defensive play is easier than you think. Get his insights with a free trial subscription to Real Money.
