YouTube Adds HDR Support for Much Improved Video Quality

Good news for all creators and viewers dabbling in HDR videos, YouTube announced today that it will now support high-dynamic-range (HDR) videos which will allow for a better and more realistic viewing experience on hardware containing the right specs. However, with a lack of HDR content out there to watch, YouTube is pushing the world’s largest video platforms to adopt to the format, as it did in the past with 4K, 360-degree video and live-streaming. To be able to view any content as of now, an external piece of hardware is needed such as Google’s new Chromecast Ultra, or HDR Blu-ray player or the Xbox One S. YouTube states it is working to fill its HDR catalog in the coming months to stay at the forefront against other video options like Netflix and Amazon.
