Fiscal 2016’s first quarter earnings season is starting to heat up. Yesterday, streaming video giant Netflix Inc NFLX reported their results, with earnings of $0.06 per share topping the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.03 per share but revenues of $1.958 billion missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.965 billion. The increase in subscription fees has weakened subscriber growth expectations going forward, sending NFLX stock tumbling, currently down almost 11% as of 10:46 AM EST. Tuesday morning saw a fair share of companies report their results before the bell. Let’s take a look. The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. GS The global investment firm saw Q1 earnings per share of $2.68, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.57 per share thanks to effective cost control. Net revenues came in at $6.3 billion, which decreased 40% year-over-year and lagged behind the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $7.1 billion. Harley-Davidson, Inc. HOG American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson reported Q1 earnings per share of $1.36, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.28 per share. Consolidated revenues rose 4.8% to &1.75 billion, and the company reaffirmed its guidance for motorcycle shipments for 2016 at 269,000-274,000 units, up 1%-3% year-over-year. Johnson & Johnson JNJ The consumer-focused product developer beat earnings expectations yet again. Q1 earnings came in at $1.68 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.64 per share. Revenues of $17.5 billion just topped the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $17.4 billion for the quarter, increasing 0.6% from the year-ago quarter. Philip Morris International Inc. PM Leading tobacco company Philip Morris posted adjusted Q1 earnings of $0.98 per share and revenues of $6.08 billion, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimates of $1.11 and $6.17 billion, respectively.Earnings slipped 15.5% from the year-ago period because of soft sales while revenues were down 8.1% due to lower sales as well. UnitedHealth Group Inc. UNH The health insurer titan reported Q1 earnings per share of $1.81, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.72.
