T-Mobile CEO Legere: Verizon Go90 Will Be 'Debacle'

T-Mobile US CEO John Legere says Verizon Communications' (NYSE:VZ) Go90 mobile video service could be a "debacle," and that cable TV firms such as Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) might need to buy a wireless phone company to stay competitive.

T-Mobile (NYSE:TMUS) will bid aggressively in a U.S. government auction of airwaves now controlled by TV broadcasters slated for early 2016, the company said Friday at a Goldman Sachs investor conference. T-Mobile also said its third-quarter subscriber additions are outpacing Q2.

Verizon, at the Goldman conference on Thursday, had touted plans to launch its Go90 mobile video service by the end of this month. Verizon last week sent invitations to 5 million customers for Go90, a free, ad-supported mobile video service. Go90 targets young adults (millennials) and offers live events, on-demand shows and Web videos.
