Juniper Networks (JNPR) Stock Drops as FBI Probes Security Breach

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of Juniper Networks (JNPR - Get Report) are down by 4.25% to $27.46 in early afternoon trading on Monday, after the FBI announced on Friday that it is probing a major security breach at the company.

U.S. officials are investigating the software breach and have concerns that a "backdoor entry" allowed a foreign government to tap into U.S. government communications, USA Today reported.

Juniper Networks is a computer network company that develops and sells communications equipment and software products for high-performance networks and large customers, including the U.S. government.

The Sunnyvale-based company said on Thursday that the security issues were identified during an internal code review. The company found an unauthorized code inserted into software that runs its firewalls. The code could potentially compromise the whole system without leaving information about the party behind the breach, USA Today noted.
