Recently a marketing venture of Uralkali & Belaruskali broke up and Uralkali said it had changed the strategy focusing now on volume rather than on price as it used to be. Now it turned out that BHP Billiton approved $2.6 bn of investments in Canadian project Jansen which can supply a significant volume of potash. Oh dear, at some point in short-term and long-term (it takes around 8 years to develop a potash mine) there is going to lots of potash fertilizers on the world market. Afraid, demand isn’t growing that fast. So, the biggest producers Potash, Mosaic & Uralkali are out of my favour.
