Just 7% Americans are using Internet on their Smartphones, Can't be right?

SAN FRANCISCO — Smartphone is the only option for accessing the internet for only 7 % of Americans- Pew Research Centre survey.

"Their phone is their primary access point for all the information in the online world" said a Pew researcher.

About 89% of adult Americans use the Internet, previous Pew research has found.

Americans usually use a mix of computer, tablet or phone at home , at work or through a friend  or at library to get online.

But for those 7 % whom Pew terms "smartphone reliant" the only way to get online for them is through their phone.

Americans of age group between 18 to 29 are more dependent on their phones for online access and such are about 15%

Of people with annual household incomes of less than $30,000 per year, 13% were smartphone-dependent and In contrast, just 1% of Americans who live in households earning more than $75,000 were only able to access the Internet via a smartphone and lower-income users were more likely to use their phones when looking for work.

People from households earning less than $30,000 annually were nearly twice as likely to use a smartphone to look for information about a job and they are also less white: 12% of blacks and 13% of Latinos were smartphone-dependent, compared with 4% of whites.

Cancellation or suspension of the service out of the 7% smartphone dependent users is mainly because of the reason that they cannot afford it and 15% "frequently" reached the maximum data use on their plans.
