Low oil prices force construction company Saudi Binladin Group to lay off 50,000 workers. Next up – addressing their public relations issue stemming from the fact their business contains the name “Binladin”

If they were worried about that they would have changed it 15 years ago. These guys only changed their name recently.  One family member was a doctor of sorts.  Perhaps you’ve heard of him. Ah the facts of life. Justice is more of concept than a reality. This SNL (from Nov. 2001 I think) was on Comedy Central today.  They have been playing the ones from that time period over the last few days.  I have not seen these episodes since around 9/11.  Its sad/weird to see them in the context of the past 15 years.

A picture (above) taken on March 9, 2016 shows towers under construction at the King Abdullah Financial District in the Saudi capital Riyadh. Towers in the complex are being built by the Saudi Oger company and other constructors. The unfinished buildings stand as a symbol of the hard times faced by Saudi Oger.

Saudi Binladen Group was founded in the 1930s by the father of the late al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. One of the father’s over 50 children, the Islamist radical was removed as a shareholder in the business in 1993 and disowned by the family.
