Dollar hovers around 15-month low, looks for catalysts in July jobs data

The U.S. dollar was stuck around a 15-month low Friday, and faced extending a weekly run of losses, as investors waited to hear how many jobs were created in the world’s largest economy last month.

The ICE Dollar Index DXY, -0.04 , which measures the currency against six major rivals, was down 0.1% at 92.750, moving around its lowest since May 2015.

The WSJ Dollar Index BUXX, -0.06 which compares the buck against a broader basket of 16 rivals, moved down 0.1% to 85.80 on Friday.

The dollar is set to be jostled when the U.S. Labor Department releases its nonfarm payrolls report for July at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time. A MarketWatch survey of economists foresees the addition of 180,000 new jobs.
