General Electric Co. is bidding for parts of Haliburton Co.’s drilling services and drilling bits unit, as Haliburton works to get regulatory approval for its acquisition of Baker Hughes Inc. Other bidders for the assets include Weatherford International Plc and Nabors Industries Ltd. All final offers for the unit are due within four weeks. Emily Mir, Haliburton’s spokeswoman said, the firm would consider bids from a “variety of interested parties in the near future.” U.S. antitrust enforcers believe Haliburton’s proposed $35 billion take over offer for Baker Hughes, will lead to higher prices and lesser innovation in the oilfield services market.
