Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat Chrysler, rejected speculation of a possible merger between Volkswagen, saying the idea was never on the agenda. Earlier this month it was reported that Volkswagen Chairman Ferdinand Piech was in talks with the owners of Fiat Chrysler about either buying all or a stake in the company. John Elkann, head of Exor, a holding company with a controlling stake in Fiat Chrysler made comments inline with Marchionne saying there was nothing else to add to the matter. Marchionne, announced that he still plans to list the merged Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in the first two weeks of October. Fiat’s shareholders will make final vote on the merger next week.
