Microsoft Corp. is acquiring Mojang, the Germany based developer responsible for the popular game Minecraft, for $2.5 billion. Minecraft is one of the top games in both Apple and Google's app stores. The app game brought Mojang $287 million in revenue in 2013. The company had a $126 operating profit in 2013. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said, "Minecraft is more than just a great game franchise it is an open world platform, driven by a vibrant community we care deeply about, and rich with new opportunities for that community and for Microsoft."
