Those paying close attention to the geopolitical chess game unfolding in the Middle East might have noticed a rather amusing contradiction in Riyadh’s foreign policy stance of late. On the one hand, the Saudi-led coalition (which includes the UAE and Qatar) that’s carrying out near daily air strikes in Yemen in an all-out effort to wrest control of Sana’a from the Iran-backed Houthis has been accused of inflicting massive civilian casualties. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia is already out condemning Moscow’s airstrikes in Syria because the Russian bombing raids have allegedly caused ... civilian casualties.
