For those who don't know, Amazon has a service called AmazonFresh, which has been used to deliver groceries in Seattle for the past six years. Earlier this year, they made the move to expand to Los Angeles after opening a warehouse nearby. As of now, they decided to go forward and make this service available for San Francisco residents, although the exact territories have not been specified. Their slow rollout was a result of many challenges and competition from places like Walmart and Kroger Inc. During this time however, Amazon has upped their deliverable items from 100,000 to 500,000 over the summer. The cost of delivery service is $8.99 along with a 99 cent per item charge. With that said however, orders over $35 will not be charged any delivery fee, and they also offer a 30-day trial before prompting users to sign up for Prime Fresh, which is a $299/year membership that combines grocery delivery with the two-day shipping service.
