Ubiquiti Networks, Inc. UBNT launched a new Wi-Fi system solution AmpliFi, and also announced the opening of its consumer electronics R&D laboratory — Ubiquiti Labs, based in Latvia. With AmpliFi, Ubiquiti has delivered a breakthrough technology that builds on the company’s industry-leading UniFi Wi-Fi platform to solve the chronic Wi-Fi challenges that modern homes face. The AmpliFi platform integrates a simple and powerful, plug-and-play, multi-radio system with the most advanced 802.11AC Wi-Fi technology. It features a router and a pair of packaged range extenders. Consequently, AmpliFi delivers unparalleled speeds with aggregate throughput of up to 5.45Gbps, and eliminates dead zones even in the most demanding home environments. AmpliFi has been designed to get rid of the common limitations of present-day Wi-Fi routers, and is perfect for serving multiple connected devices, high-quality video streaming, and distributing fast Internet bandwidth all over while removing any dead zones. Ubiquiti is an established player in the SMB Wi-Fi access point market, and AmpliFi represents its foray into the home Wi-Fi market. AmpliFi’s pricing (starting at $199) places it at the higher-end of the consumer Wi-Fi space. Shipments of the product are scheduled to begin in summer 2016. Ubiquiti has had an impressive track record of introducing products that supplement its top-line growth. The company recently launched UniFi 8 and 16-Port Gigabit Switches, which can deliver powerful performance with their independent switching ports. The company also launched the UniFi Video Camera G3 and G3 Dome cameras, which are the next generation versions of the UniFi Video surveillance management system. During the recently reported third-quarter fiscal 2016 results, Ubiquiti’s Enterprise Technology segment sales surged 72.6%, driven by outstanding growth in demand of UniFi products (namely UniFi AC access points and UniFi Switch). We believe that successful market traction of Ubiquity’s new products will continue to boost the company’s top-line performance, going forward. Also, the company’s strong commitment toward research and development activities, as emphasized by its new consumer electronics R&D laboratory Ubiquiti Labs, is impressive and bodes well for long term growth. Ubiquiti currently sports a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy). Other stocks in the space that are worth a look now include TDK Corp. TTDKY, Rogers Corp. ROG and Fabrinet FN.
