(Image Source: CNN Money) Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung has been fighting battle over battle in the war to become the number one tech company. Recently President Obama had to step in to prevent a ban on some iPhones and iPads from being sold in the United States. In this case Samsung accuses Apple of violating its patents on the iPhone 4 and iPad 2. This case was brought in front of the International Trade Commission (ITC) who ruled in favor of Samsung. As a result the two products were set to be ban from sales in the U.S., however, President Obama stepped in and vetoed the the ruling by the ITC. The two companies are currently fighting over patent infringement for hardware design on their smartphones. The ruling on that is set for Friday. We will just have to wait and see what happens. In an article by Julianne Pepitone of CNN Money, Pepitone pointed out that a large amount of these lawsuits are pointless because the legal process moves at a much slower pace than technology. By the time the court makes a decision about the iPhone 4 Apple would have long discontinued the product. Needless to say, these companies should use the money to innovate instead of trying to bring each other down, it would probably be a more effective competitive strategy.
